We’re very excited! Lorraine met the folks at the Buchanan Theater during the Southwest Virginia Blue Ridge Mountain Vision Film Festival. The theater is historic and a wonderful group of volunteers runs the theater and is doing renovations. It is a great space and the kind of fabulous theater they just don’t build anymore! The screening is a fundraiser for the theater, which is a non-profit.

If you are the in area, we hope you will attend! If you have friends in the area, we’d appreciate if you let them know about the screening, it’ll be great fun.

2007 has been very exciting — new awards and festivals for “Saving Sophie”.
New distribution possibilities.

We look forward to more exciting news in 2008!

On a personal front, Jerry and I are engaged and planning a very small wedding in May. I know! The gal who planned a huge on film wedding planning a very small one!
Jerry wants to jump on a cruise ship and get married — I want to invite everyone we know — so somewhere in between is a small, backyard affair with our families.
I couldn’t be happier and look forward to Jerry meeting the whole “Saving Sophie” family.

In 2007 we welcomed my cousin Pamela and her husband Jason’s beautiful baby girl, Sydney.

We just yesterday welcomed a new baby in Jerry’s family, our family, and it is so clear to both of us how much we both treasure our famillies and our now larger, shared family. Mom Ashley is just great, Scott a proud Dad, and Rayley could not be prettier. We saw her when she was minutes old and I held her when she was 17 hours old. Quite something.

So Happy New Year to Everyone! Treasure every moment and every precious gift!

Summer time! Happy Summer to Everyone — Hope everyone is enjoying what Summer has to offer: beaches, swimming, meteor showers, the start of hurricane season, holidays, picnics, crazy heat!
Makes me miss Love Bug Season!

Oh, who am I kidding? I’m insanely happy. I’m working on the next screenplay, looking forward to teaching Screenwriting and Playwriting in the Spring, and madly, head over heels in love.

In April, working at a train show with Papa, I met a most wonderful man, Jerry. When I first mentioned to Papa that I met him at the train show, Papa didn’t believe me. I have no idea why. So I keep insisting, “I met him at the train show!”
“No you didn’t!”
“Yes! I did!”
And then he says, “Well, I need to keep a better eye on you!”
I was like, “Keep a better eye on me??? I sold way more than you! I didn’t neglect the booth for a second and I’m a big girl! Keep a better eye on me!!”
Funny Papa.

Jerry is a builder. More importantly, he has a wicked sense of humor. We laugh all the time. Make each other laugh, tease, joke around, find things to laugh about all around us. And he has a wonderful heart, just a wonderful, good man. I’ve never been this happy.

So I’m currently running between Saint Augustine and Fort Pierce, where Jerry lives and works. His place is out in the Land of Cows — very pretty country.
Only down side — no high speed internet.

The Saving Sophie website got eatten — the last server went down and POOF it was all gone.
My cousin David helped me — turned me on to a new server — got the website hooked up and going again. I was in Saint Augustine for a root canal, where there’s high speed, and in one night got a lot of the website back up — our basic info and pictures. I have a lot of captions to write for the pictures and other things to post back up — but it’s just impossible to do on the dial up. But I wanted to let y’all know what was up. Next time I’m up in Saint Augustine, I’m hoping to really get it back in shape. For the moment I’m happy to have it back up at all.

I’m also working on finding two songs. The best chance for distribution at this point is via the net and setting up with a print on demand kind of place and to do that, I need all the rights cleared and there are two songs we paid to use for festivals and that cost quite a bit — and there’s no way we can afford world rights.

So I’m looking to replace TWILIGHT TIME by the Platters and SIX TIMES A WEEK AND TWICE ON SUNDAY by the Andrews Sisters. Any ideas, drop me an email at savingsophie@aol.com.

When I find the replacement songs, we can remix and then start selling DVD’s. I’ll keep you updated as we go.

If you have any Saving Sophie related photos you can email, I’ll post them when I can. I have more to post as well.

Please keep in touch everyone! My best wishes to Everyone!!

Lorraine
